   I got this wall mount for a new plasma tv. I read quite a few reviews and everyone seemed to rave about how easy it was to install and how cool it was with the motorized features. I found the installation frustrating. It took over 4 hours. One of the pieces (the plug) was installed in the bracket and was not with the other parts. No where in the manual did it say that. I called customer service and the person I spoke with wasn’t familiar with the wall mount. Call me crazy, but shouldn’t customer service for Visio at the number listed on the manual have some clue about the product? Also, in one step, the diagram refers to a “digital optical plug” on the back of the tv. Nothing else was mentioned until the last step when you are supposed to plug something into it. At that point, the tv is flush with the wall and I could never find the stupid thing. All in all, I thought the directions could have been more comprehensive with little hints like, “please note where this is for use in a future step”.

   Additionally, I expected the wall mount to move out and in and turn. All it does is tilt up and down. I found the variability minimal. It doesn’t turn sideways at all and it doesn’t move the screen out from the wall at all.

   Lastly, although I have bound cords together and tried to hide them, it is impossible to hide everthing. I don’t think it’s a very clean look. I am going to return this and get a stand.

   This is a great mount. Easy to install and for the price ($99.99 [...] + free s&h) couldnt pass it up! The only downfall is that it needs the sdpif hookup (optical) to retract into the wall when turned off and tilt back when turned on. My TV has just one optical hook up and I’m using it for the surround sound. So I’m doing without the automatic tilting…but no worries, it comes with a remote!

   If you have any doubts…Buy It!!!

   I’m using this tilt on my new 55″ Samsung LED and I have to say it’s fantastic. There is a template included with the TV for easy installation — so as long as you are somewhat familiar with installing these sorts of things you’re fine. Otherwise I’d say it’s worth it to buy it and pay someone qualified to install it because it’s fantastic (though I really don’t think you need to — the template is pretty “fool proof”). It works simply, you turn on the TV and it tilts out.. you turn it off, it goes back flush with the wall. You simply hook up the provided optical cable to the optical outlet on your TV and you’re in business!

   I read some reviews saying that they can’t use the optical outlet for tilt because they need it for their audio — well, if you have a surround sound system (which I assume most people do that spend $$$ on a nice TV and a tilting mount like this) you simply hook the optical cable up to the mount, and then hook another optical cable up from your cable box to your receiver and BINGO you have the tilt working and the audio working

   When I had this installed I had a few people in my house doing some work (plumber, painter, electrician) and they all were “wowed” by it — when I told them it was under $150 they didn’t believe me. If you’re looking for a wow factor tilt at a great price, look no further – it’s well worth the money, and the template for installation makes it a breeze.

   Easy installation, cool feature, nice tilt angle and control. Very sturdy for my 55″ Vizio TV
